About Whitegate Farm Shop

Whitegate Farm is a family owned and run mixed farm, producing quality animals for meat production.

Derek SwiftLet me introduce you to the family at Whitegate Farm, firstly we have Derek & Ann Swift. Derek is the main man around the place who oversees the running of the farm and the shop. Derek can be found most of the time ready to help your every need in the farm shop itself, Derek will help give you advice on various cuts of meat and be able to give you information about the product as the majority of it Derek has helped rear on the farm.

Ann has developed our complete range of pastry goods, include a variety of pies, pasties, Pork pies & cottage pies, our range of crumbles and flans and the latest edition is our homemade faggots which so far only a few weeks into production have become a roaring success. All these products go under our own branding range of 'Granny Swift's'which is now gaining a reputation for quality around Staffordshire, Shropshire and the West midlands. You will also see Ann at the Penkridge farmers market on the third Saturday of the month.

Mark is Derek's son and together they have farmed here at Whitegate Farm and the surrounding area for over 20 years. They now run the farm and shop on their own but prior to this the family business was much bigger and the farm was run in conjunction with Derek's brother Roger Swift's Farm from Church Eaton with his three sons. Derek and Roger's father Fred Swift oversaw everything and they have farmed the area for many years. Mark has the task of ensuring the day to day welfare of the cattle, pigs, and poultry is kept to and extremely high standard thus ensuring a premium product for our customers. Mark also has an active part in the shop where he has diversified his skills into become a butcher, where he now produces a range of our fresh products in the shop including our high quality sausage and burgers. You can also meet Mark in the shop who will be there to serve you over the weekends.

Jacqui takes care of the administrative side of the business, making sure everything runs smoothly and looks at developing new ideas. Jacqui also assists Ann with the pie production, and serving you in the shop. You will also see Jacqui at the Farmers Market in Cannock on the third Friday of the month.

Jamie and Sophie are soon to be in training, they are keen to help out especially when it comes to cleaning up and collecting eggs to earn 'pocket money', You may see them playing out at weekends or after school, where they usually shout a friendly hello.
